Brief introduction
to Prof. David Yap
Professor David Yap Chi-Beng, a native of Kulangyu,
Xiamen of China, who later migrated to Manila. He obtained his master degree in
music from the Westminster Choir College, Princeton, U.S.A. majoring in choral
conducting and voice. He is one of the Conductors Emeritus of the Union Churches
of Manila; the former Secretary General of NAMCYA (National Music Competition
for Young Artists, cultural Center of the Philippines; served as the panel of
Judges at the International Bartok Choral Competition in Hungary; was the former
research advisor of the Frank Callaway International Research Centre for Music
Education at the University of Western Australia. He is rich in publications and
compositions. He is at present the chief editor of the Hua-Xia Chinese Hymnal,
the Founder of Song-In Hymnmaster Foundation Inc. to introduce hymnmasters and
to produce hymn VHS and hymn Karaoke (Accompaniment Orchestra) VCD for the
assistance of the rapidly developing Chinese churches in Mainland China.
