WHY IS THIS NEEDED?

.RADICAL CHANGES IN THE CHINESE FAMILY are the result of

exposure to the West, the pursuit of materialism especially among

a younger generation and the higher standard of living.

Communism denied that there is a God and material comforts

don't satisfy.  The result: a spiritual void in the lives of

people today that can be met only by knowing the Lord and

following the teaching of His Word relating to our lives and

         families.

GROWING NUMBERS OF DIVORCE AND IMMORALITY

In 2003 over 1 million Chinese couples filed for divorce

In 2004 over 1.6 million Chinese couples divorced

   PARENTING PROBLEMS AND NEEDS

A one-child per family policy in most of China has resulted in a

generation of children lacking parental respect, indulged, without

values and spoiled (often called“ Little Emperors”). Presently

over 25% of the population of 1.3 billion people are under age 12

(more than 320 million—larger than the entire population of the

         United States.

     GROWING SOCIAL PROBLEMS

HIV (AIDS) is a growing problem.  Under the more stringent

years of Communism sexual license was frowned upon; however,

as the result of a more relaxed society, promiscuity and multiple

relationships (adultery, second wives, and mistresses) are

          becoming more common.

LACK OF BIBLICAL TEACHING IN THE CHURCHES

When Dr. Harold Sala first began to minister in China in the early

1980s, he asked Chinese pastors, “How can we help you? Answer:

"Give us biblical teaching materials which we can use in our

fellowships and churches." His first response was an 8 part series

on what the Bible and Christianity are about.  Then as Christian

families said, “What does the Bible say about marriage and

parenting? Harold and  Darlene Sala produced an 8 part series

         answering these questions.

FACTOID:  Presently 50% of the Chinese population is under age 27. Most of them have grown up since the Tiananmen Square incident in 1989. Their generation is less interested in democracy than having a nicer apartment, an automobile, and time together as a family.  They are better educated than their parents, more sophisticated, and respond to biblical teaching stressing family values that can make a difference in the lives of their children.

This series FINDING YOUR WAY AS A FAMILY II goes even beyond the basics, dealing with specific issues and what the Bible says about them.  It is bi-lingual (Chinese and English with PowerPoint).

TOPICS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

 Disc 1
For Husbands And Wives
Keeping an Unbroken Marriage in a Broken World- While infidelity and divorce are both increasing radically, Harold and Darlene show couples how to keep their marriage working, how to meet each other needs, and deal with temptation. This is a frank, biblical teaching that answers the questions confronting young families today.

Loving Each Other as Christ Loved the Church -- a study of Ephesians 5 with particular emphasis on the responsibility of husband to love his wife as Christ loved us.

Disc 2
For Christian Workers
Balancing Ministry and Family- Because the needs are so great, many Christian workers (both men and women) neglect their families and spouses. This is practical, biblical, and helpful.

The Spirit Filled Life and Family Living- This message emphasizes the importance of living and walking in the Spirit. Dr. Sala deals with the 14 references in the New Testament which speak of being filled with or full of the Holy Spirit.

Disc 3
Confronting Contemporary Issues From a Biblical Perspective
Issues and Answers Part 1 & 2 -These two sessions deal with "hot topics" which are often ignored: homosexuality, living together w/o marriage, divorce and remarriage, the will of God and how to find it, and the church responsibility to confront issues with the loving application of Scripture.

Disc 4
For Women
Created for a Purpose -a message by Darlene especially to women based on Darlene's book which has just been translated into Chinese.

When Life Isn't  Fair - a message by Darlene to women dealing with a subject often avoided spousal abuse. In China women are often subjected to second-class status that means they often are abused and mistreated. How should a woman respond to this sort of thing? Women find this extremely hopeful and helpful.
